Changing lives for the better

Our client commitment is simple: We are going to care about you, and be more personally devoted to your financial success than anyone in the world.

Nicholas PlattManaging Director

We’re a lifestyle chartered financial planning and wealth management boutique, focused on helping private individuals and their families to achieve their ambitions in life.

Our approach helps our clients identify, achieve and maintain their desired lifestyle, without the fear of running out of money or dying with too much! We often achieve life-changing outcomes!

By design, we only act for a relatively small number of client families, a strategy which allows us to devote a significant amount of time and attention to each client relationship.

We offer a highly personalised money concierge service, where we firstly take time to understand our clients’ needs and objectives, then create and implement financial planning strategies and wealth solutions that are regularly reviewed to ensure planning remains on track.

Our clients are happy to delegate the responsibility of managing their money to us, having access to a team of financial experts who understand their needs and objectives, and perhaps, more crucially, build lifelong, enduring and trusted relationships, focused on adding substantial value in advice areas such as investment, pensions and estate planning, but value often ‘beyond financial’.

While not exclusive, we have expert knowledge and experience working with Senior Executives and SME Business Owners and specialise in retirement and succession planning.

We take a huge amount of pride in the close partnerships we have with our clients. We have earned their trust not through the consistent delivery of high quality financial advice, this is an expectation, but because of a consistent demonstration that we care.

Jason AshmanDirector

Our chartered status

This is a badge we wear with pride. Chartered Status is not easy to achieve. It’s only awarded to firms that meet a challenging level of professional standards and we’re one of a small minority that have reached that bar.

It demonstrates that we work within a strict ethical framework, have a highly competent and knowledgeable advice team, give tailored advice, first class service and always put our clients’ interests first.

Meet the team

Henwood Court is a special place created by special people.

Gaye MorrisMD Next Steps Solutions

Our business is about expertise and personal service, so to be successful we need great people. And that’s what we have. Our Financial Planners don’t work alone. They’re part of a team working for you which includes Technical Assistants and Financial Planning Assistants. This approach means our clients have access to a wide pool of expertise and first-class client service.

Nicholas Platt

Managing Director

Our Managing Director, Nick, has worked in financial services for nearly 25 years and founded Henwood Court in 2005. He is highly qualified with advanced certificates in tax, pensions and investments and is also a Chartered Financial Planner, the gold standard of the profession.

Nick finds it particularly rewarding being able to see clients ‘take the plunge’ into retirement and tick things off their bucket list.

Raising their two children with Vicki is something Nick counts as one of his greatest achievements. A keen cyclist, his bike would be his luxury item if stranded on a desert island. Not surprisingly, his idea of a dream holiday would be somewhere warm with all the family, combining some cultural activities, great food, a good road to cycle on and a beautiful sea to swim in.

Jason Ashman

Director & Chartered Financial Planner

Jason has always had an interest in Financial Services and has worked in the industry since 1993. After studying Economics at London Metropolitan University and Agricultural Economics at the University of Aberdeen, he took his interest across the world to work abroad with the Bank of New Zealand.

Jason is a highly qualified Chartered Financial Planner and a Director of Henwood Court. He’s a family man who considers his two daughters to be his greatest achievement and two people for whom he loves to cook (his youngest is his toughest critic!) He spends as much of his spare time with his family as possible. When he does get time to himself he likes to dive into literature, music and history - which might have something to do with the passion that went into his recent restoration of a Victorian terrace house.

In fact, if he could choose two people to be sat between at a dinner party, it would be his wife and Sir Winston Churchill, so that they could hear firsthand experience of some of the most exciting and important tales of British and World History.

Victoria Platt

Client Relationship Director

Victoria has an extensive history in financial services, having spent 13 years at West Bromwich Building Society before joining the team at Henwood Court in 2006. In her role as Client Services Director, she has overall responsibility for the delivery of client service and care.

She particularly enjoys spending time with our clients and seeing them achieve their dreams, hearing their stories and ‘chatting’ about life.

Outside of work, Victoria is known as a fun-loving, sporty type. Sailing round the Greek islands would be her ideal holiday - as long as she was never far from a good coffee machine! Victoria always wanted to be a weather girl as a youngster - it has to be said, she’s more involved with financial forecasts these days!

Helen Allen

Technical Manager

With a wide range of prestigious qualifications under her belt, Helen Allen is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), as well as holding both the Certified Financial Planner License and Chartered Financial Planner status.

To Henwood Court, however, she’s much more than that. As our Senior Financial Planning Manager, she brings her own brand of attention to detail and perfectionism. She is truly committed to developing and promoting professionalism with Financial Planning and was awarded The Personal Finance Society Paraplanner of the Year award in 2015.

Her commitment shines through in her personal life too, being a fitness fanatic and an accomplished pianist and organist who also plays trombone. Her greatest personal achievement has been believing in herself and having the confidence to go out of her comfort zone to achieve her goals, and she’s passionate about using that experience to help others achieve their goals too.

Paul Bradley

Financial Planner and Investment Manager

At Henwood Court, Paul is a Financial Planner and Investment Manager. He’s also responsible for implementing the Investment Managing Service, also known as PortfolioSense®. He’s certainly well equipped for those roles, having worked within the financial services environment since 1986, holding various roles with Blue Chip organisations and as an independent financial advisor.

Paul likes his steak blue and his rock music heavy, but he also may (or may not) be known to shed a tear or two when he watches a “chick flick”. That’s if you can get him away from a rugby pitch long enough to sit down and watch one! The winner of the prestigious National Amateur Rugby Player of the Year Award, you’ll still find him in a ruck or a lineout every Saturday for Aston Old Edwardians, a team he has represented over 1000 times.

Paul’s mantra is to make the most of every opportunity that life provides you and he lives for the satisfaction of a job well done and the benefits that brings to clients and colleagues alike.

Stuart Pryor

Chartered Financial Planner

You are in safe hands with Stuart as your Chartered Financial Planner. With a long list of qualifications and a BSc in Money, Banking and Finance, as well as extensive industry experience, you can rely on him to help you to achieve your financial and life goals.

Stuart loves meeting and getting to know interesting people, which is something he considers to be his job’s greatest reward; he truly loves what he does. He’ll tell you his key to success himself: “Take pride in every chore and job you do, no matter how trivial or mundane it seems. You can’t escape such tasks and life will be so much more fulfilling.”

In Stuart’s spare time, he’s a cycling enthusiast. His interest started in early life and in fact his earliest memory is lying in front of a homemade ramp while his brothers jumped over him on their Striker bikes! He used his paper round in his early teens as an opportunity to save up for his first ever mountain bike, and the rest is history.

Mark Rickards

Financial Planner

Mark is a Financial Planner and has worked in the financial services almost 20 years.

Mark loves getting to know new people and finds it extremely rewarding helping clients work towards achieving their financial and life goals.

Outside of work, Mark is a keen runner and competes for Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletics Club with a sub 3-hour marathon being his biggest sporting achievement.

Mark’s favourite place is Sutton Park where he loves to go for a run or walk with his young family.

Edward Bishop

Chartered Financial Planner

Edward Bishop is an FPFS Chartered Financial Planner. Having been attracted to the Financial Services industry by its constantly evolving nature, he now boasts nearly 2 decades of experience.

He loves to see people’s dreams come true and his focus on the bigger picture means that he’s able to play a part in that through his work. Growing up working on a family farm, he’s not afraid to put in the hard graft necessary to make things grow and flourish.

When it comes to his own dreams, Edward is a keen traveller who you might find climbing peaks in Nepal or scuba diving on one of the world’s beautiful coastlines - he’s hoping to see the sights of South America next; in fact, his desert island luxury item would be some snorkel gear! Whatever you find him doing in his free time, you can expect him to be listening to Drum & Bass while he does it.

If you ask him what advice he’d give to his 16 year old self, he’d say “Buy Bitcoin and sell at $20,000!” Sounds like solid advice to us!

Yvonne Till

Office Manager & PA to the Managing Director

With over 25 years experience in customer service, Yvonne has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from that is invaluable to Henwood Court in her roles as Practice Manager and P.A to the M.D. The smooth running and morale within the team is all important to her, and she’ll be the first to admit that she loves to work “with a great bunch of people who are supportive at every turn.”

Yvonne is married with two children, Jade and Harry, and her three dogs get her out and about and keep her fit. Oscar, the old English sheepdog and Sally, the labrador might be the biggest of the bunch but Griff the Griffon doesn’t let his small size stop him from being the leader of the pack!

In her spare time she supports a number of charities, including Macmillan Cancer and Walk the Walk - Uniting against Breast Cancer. She’ll claim she isn’t sporty, but that hasn’t stopped her completing four full marathons over the last six years in aid of charities, raising in excess of £3,000 in the process.

Lynette Coffey

Technical Assistant

Lynette has worked in the banking sector since 1995, fulfilling a variety of client support roles within advisory firms, for life and pension companies and the Banking sector. She holds an IFS Diploma for Financial Advisers, so is no stranger to Financial Services.

Hardworking and undeniably loyal, Lynette will do anything for her team and goes out of her way to make sure things go to plan. Good manners and fairness are important to her; in fact, if you ask her what she thinks the greatest invention of all time is, she’ll tell you it’s “Democracy.”

Although she claims she’s not particularly artistic, we think she’s just being modest. You’ll often find her ‘treading the boards’ with a Sutton Coldfield based amateur dramatic society, and if she found herself stranded on a desert island, she simply couldn’t do without a library of books!

Lenea Appleby

Technical Assistant

Through a number of administration, advisor and management roles, Lenea Appleby has gained valuable experience in the Financial Services industry over the last 15 years. A Henwood Court Technical Assistant, Lenea is always developing her knowledge and skills and is currently working towards her diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

In her own words, the most rewarding aspect of her job is “the support, encouragement and challenges I get to continually develop myself. Not forgetting the fantastic team of people I work with!” It’s that very enthusiasm that makes her such a great fit for the Henwood Court team.

Diversity in both life and work is key for Lenea, and the advice she’d like to give her younger self is to “live life, enjoy different experiences and travel.”

Laura Smith

Senior Financial Planning Assistant

As our Senior Financial Planning Assistant, Laura is responsible for a wide range of activities at Henwood Court.

She has worked within the financial services profession for over 14 years, having been a Regulated Mortgage Adviser and Bank Manager. She left the bank to have her first daughter and afterwards joined Henwood Court to take up a client care role. Laura sees the most rewarding part of the job as the people; her colleagues and clients.

Away from work, she enjoys a busy family and social life. Laura’s idea of a dream holiday would be anywhere with her family and some sunshine. She’d be sure to spend a fair amount of it reading as she loves books.

If she had to give a bit of advice to herself as a youngster, it would be to enjoy life to the full.

Katherine Woolley

Financial Planning Assistant

Since 2006, Katherine has been an integral part of Henwood Court, supervising operations, office administration and ensuring client matters are processed efficiently. In all aspects of her life she’s a perfectionist who always takes care in what she does, which comes through in her work as a Financial Planning Assistant.

Staying focused on the details is important to Katherine, and she finds joy in knowing that she’s done the best possible job for the client. When she gets time to focus on herself she loves to read fiction, spend time with her children and socialise with her friends. She’s as meticulous when it comes to enjoying herself as she is with her work, and if she could give advice to her 16 year old self, it would be “work hard, play harder!”

Peter Roberts

Financial Planning Assistant

Peter Roberts had worked in a variety of roles before joining the team at Henwood Court. He’s responsible for a range of highly detailed document preparation tasks and a wide variety of client transactions as a Financial Planning Assistant. He cherishes the opportunity to work in a great team, and for Peter that team extends beyond just his Henwood Court colleagues and includes our clients as well.

When he’s not volunteering at the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA), Peter loves his motor sports - in fact he considers the car to be the single greatest invention ever. His dream holiday would be a big US Road Trip and if he could be sat next to any guest at a dinner party, it would have to be the late, great Ayrton Senna.

John Wright

Compliance Consultant

John is our eagle-eyed compliance expert. He has over 25 years’ experience in financial services compliance in systems and controls, so we have every confidence that everything is checked, checked and triple checked.

For John, the best part of his job is working with great people who want to do their best for their clients.

John is a black belt (3rd Dan) in judo and teaches at his local club - in fact, one of his greatest regrets is not actively pursuing getting picked for the Olympics in 1984. His dream holiday would be walking in the Himalayas and if he had to give his sixteen year old self a piece of advice, he would say definitely travel more before finding a job.

Despite working in compliance, John is also known for telling good jokes!

Nicola Cole

Accounts Executive

Nicola is responsible for the preparation and completion of the monthly management accounts for Henwood Court.

Nicola has been working in accounting for fifteen years. Having started her career within an accountancy practice, she gained valuable experience of a varied client portfolio, by completing bookkeeping services and accounts, she particularly enjoys the management accounting and reporting side of business.

Away from work, Nicola enjoys days out and adventures with her family, and her longstanding love of photography offers her plenty of opportunities to capture these happy family moments. In her free time she also enjoys socialising with her friends and shopping.
