Asset Allocation

Once we understand the return you require and your risk tolerance, we will then select a portfolio designed to generate that return. This portfolio will have a diverse range of assets (UK & Global Equities, cash, bonds and alternatives such as real estate, commodities and other assets) designed to complement one another and reduce the overall portfolio risk.

Studies have demonstrated that asset allocation is the biggest determining factor that will influence the returns of your investments. We therefore subscribe to the view that it is important that you adopt a diversified portfolio that is actively managed according to market conditions with both funds/contracts regularly reviewed, and the asset allocation altered according to prevailing market conditions.

This is achieved by:

  • Robust strategic asset allocation – This is very much the core of portfolio strategy – A base position from which our chosen fund managers combine asset types with varying risk/return properties designed to complement one another and generate long term competitive returns consistent with the client’s risk profile.
  • Sensible tactical asset allocation – making short term changes to positions to exploit current market and economic opportunities.
